Is off grid living political?
Off grid living isn’t political, but there are a lot of people going off grid because they don’t like the way the world is going, and that is indirectly political.
So no, off grid isn’t directly political. It’s really just a way of life.
But people believe they can find more freedom living off the grid somewhere far away from the ever more restrictive laws and regulations and political bs in the cities.
Soon (within the next generation) those pockets of freedom in the wilderness and remote areas of the world will be more politicized and more and more restrictions and regulations will be imposed.
More laws and regulations might seem good at first (for the environment and such) but if those laws are left on the books the amount of freedom the average citizen has is being slowly eroded away by ever increasing regulations, and many times those regulations alienate voting people and people just trying to live their lives.
Some folks have lived that way off grid for many generations and the laws keep being created that keep encroaching on more and more of our freedoms. It’s from both sides of the political aisle. It’s bipartisan infringement on human freedoms, though it’s not always deliberate.
Sometimes the laws are just plain dumb.
NOTE: We’re not saying to not to follow the law of the land! We respect the law! But we don’t respect infringement of our rights as human beings and citizens of our respective countries. We’re simply pointing out that sometimes the laws overstep and overreach into our lives, invade our privacy and infringe on our rights as free human beings. Those are the laws that need to be reworked, rethought, and rewritten to be more fair and increase freedoms, not stifle our independence.
Shortsighted regulation is a bad thing
Overly restrictive local state and federal ordinances, laws and regulations are being pass by politicians who live in suburban and urban city centers and are ignorant of how people live elsewhere.
They become tone-deaf and they get tunnel vision. And the legislation they pass is hurting people and criminalizing their lifestyle. Lifestyles they have been living for generations. In addition, there are those in the city that are fed up with the low wages and high cost of living increases which are pricing them out of the rental and homeowner market.
It’s becoming a pandemic of stupidity and greed and infringing laws that are making things worse and worse for everyone.
It’s not just country folk and not just city folks too and it’s happening to everyone
These are just a few of the things that are causing problems for law abiding citizens and good people all over who just want to live free.
I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot, but this comment is already way too long as it is. So no…off grid living isn’t inherently political.
It’s just an alternative to the stupid that seems to be infecting our greedy corrupt political system. Off grid is really just a lifestyle choice.
But there are too many overly restrictive laws on the books, with more and more being added.
Eventually it could be illegal to do almost anything but eat and breathe it will be so stifling, and there will be so many permits and regulatory hoops to jump through we’ll all get bogged down in the bureaucratic red tape and won’t be able to do anything.
The law is written by politicians. Laws that stifle freedom and infringe on our rights as human beings to live free.
And that is a problem.
